Introducing The Jaipur Collection
I traveled to the Pink City, Jaipur, India in March 2022 to work on creating this capsule collection in cotton block prints because of my love for the hand block artistry. I love the mix of different natural color dyes to create these floral patterns. The cotton is soft, lightweight, and washable. I wanted to mix different floral cotton block print patterns together in each piece. I also designed them so that they are unisex pieces, made for a man or a woman.
I sourced block print patterns in similar colors, with contrast stripe trims to create cohesive pieces that are meant to be worn together for a mixed pattern look. This is the same aesthetic I gravitate towards in my Interior Design work: mixing prints, patterns and textures. I dress in the same manner as I dress my spaces.
The Art of Color Blocking
Block printing is a hand engraved design created on a wooden block that is then immersed in a natural dye color and printed on the fabric by hand. There are imperfects in the print but that is what gives each style its unique character. Each finished design piece has been pre-washed and will become more soft with every wash over time.
